Edinburgh Cocktail Week

Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog! Here we will be discussing and reviewing a variety of topics (all of which I personally love.) Starting off with cocktails!

Edinburgh Cocktail week launched on Monday 14th of October and is running until Sunday 20th of October and if you haven't been yet I would highly recommend going! It's perfect for students looking for a cheap night out!

I noticed on "@tigerlilyedinburgh" Instagram that they were taking part in the event, this lead to me scrolling through the events page which automatically made me desperate to go and decided it would be a good last minute date night!
Edinburgh Gin / Entrance
Initially I thought it would be too last minute to go however it was super easy to buy tickets online, a weekday wristband cost £6 with a £0.98 booking fee, making it £13.96 for my boyfriend and I to gain entry to the entire event. The stall where we collected the wristband was right next door to the main entrance of the "Cocktail Village" making it very quick and easy to collect our wristbands, there was only 2 people working so there was a small wait but no more than a couple of minutes and the staff were lovely.

Walking in you are met with loud music and a brilliant atmosphere, each pop up stall was unique and brilliant! There is 19 all together in the village including;

  •  Edinburgh Gin with Brewhemia
  • Belvedere Vodka
  • Johnnie Walker
  • 4042 with Patron Tequila
  • Poco Prosecco
  • Beetle Juice
  • Absolut Vodka
  • Smokehead Whiskey

Daiquiri and Chaitini

There is 100% something for everyone, my boyfriend and I have very different tastes, especially when it comes to cocktails however there was definitely enough choice and a large variety of flavours! My favourite being the "AV Frozen Strawberry and Basil Daiquiri" and his being the "Espresso Chaitini" both coming from The Lindores Abbey Distillery stall!

One of my favourite things about the experience was getting to try so many different styles of cocktails! In comparison to other nights out this was very cheap, usually going out for drinks, cocktails can vary from about £6 to £12 so due to the fear of ordering something I don't like, I always tend to stick to what I know I like and what I know I will enjoy. However here every single cocktail was just £4! This definitely encouraged me to try things i wouldn't normally go for and to my surprise I ended up loving one in particular which I would normally never order, this was " Tropic Thunder" from Smokehead. Due to looking at the menu which did not actually have the ingredients I blindly ordered it only to have instant regrets when the bar tender informed me that it was a whiskey-based cocktail. However, I was shocked at how nice it actually was and how much I enjoyed it, I would highly recommend! This was also where we found the arcade machines which was so enjoyable and such a good laugh!

There has been so much effort put into the event, I particularly loved the cocktail forest where we found more pop up bars and places to sit, the forest did have a magical feel to it and was a great place to sit with out drinks.

After wandering through the pop up bars in  the forest outside be discovered yet another pop up bar (Beetle juice) and food stalls. By this time this is exactly what we were needing! There was something for everyone yet again including burgers, pizzas, mac & cheese and a few vegan options too! I opted for hallomi fries which I loved however i couldn't help be jealous of the pizza that my boyfriend had got which was just absolutely mouth-watering!

Beetle Juice
Overall it was such a good night with a great atmosphere, good drinks and was 100% good value for money, so much so we are considering returning for another night, as there is still so much we haven't done. I am desperate to try to go to the cocktail domes which are at the Glass House Hotel rooftop garden and also go to some of the bars which are also taking part in the event such as Bar Soba, Boozy Cow, Brewhemia and Tiger lily. So if you have not been yourself I would really recommend trying to go before it finishes!
